Annual Clergy Conference 2016 – “Rethinking God’s Mission in Contemporary Sri Lanka”
Bishop Dhilo in his Charge to the clergy at the Colombo Diocese’s Annual Clergy conference highlighted the importance of carrying out the Great Commission entrusted to us by Jesus - not to make mere churchy Christians, but Disciples of all men and women.
Continuing, he drew a parallel with the ancient Eastern tradition of the close relationship between the Guru and his disciples, emphasizing that this must be the relationship we must have with Jesus, our Guru. (Follow this link to read a summarized version of the Bishop’s address).
Anglican Consultative Council -2016 gives the Greenlight for the Church of Ceylon to move towards creating an Anglican Province in Sri Lanka
This was revealed by Bishop Dhilo when he addressed the Clergy Conference. The ACC Standing Committee which met recently in Lusaka, Zambia had unconditionally authorized the Church of Ceylon to move towards the forming of such a province. The General Assembly of our two Dioceses has now appointed a committee to prepare a Road Map to carry this process forward. This would mean that the Anglican Church in Sri Lanka would become independent and totally responsible for the managing of its own affairs as a province within the worldwide Anglican Communion.
