The first Jerusalem Ministry Formation Programme”  of St. George’s College, took place in Israel from 10th to 23rd January, the objectives  of which were:

  • Engage with Scripture in the contexts of bibilical lands
  • Reflect on the interconnection of text, location and political context of the land
  • Engaging with Palestinian Christians as well as with the Jewish and Muslim communities
  • Refine the sense of Anglican identity and mission of participants in the global context

Bishop Dhilo was one of several Church leaders from the Anglican Communion who were privileged to participate in this programme, of prayers, reflections, lectures and  discussions interspersed with visits to Christian and Jewish  holy sites. Also invited to join in the programme was Rev. Chamil Fernando.

The studies and inter-action which took place in the backdrop of a land, sacred to three major world faiths and a flash point of tension today, brought alive in a very fresh way the need for dialogue, understanding and reconciliation not only in the Holy Land but wherever we live.
