As a followup to the environmental programme held in October 2017 St. Matthias church Laxapathiya invited the Waste Management Authority ( Western Province), (WMA)  to have a Parisara pola in their church premises on Sunday March 18th. The church invited officials of the WMA, and officials of the Moratuwa Council and PHI to be present on that day and requested parishioners to bring all types of recyclable waste. Publicity was given to the neighborhood by leaflets. The WMA organised a waste recycler to purchase this waste. Compost was also sold on that day. The PHI gave an interesting talk stressing the importance of  domestic waste management  to control the spread of dengue and other officials also gave brief presentations.

The CEMET is very encouraged by the initiative of Rev Malinda and the congregation of  St Matthias church and hope more churches will be willing to do such programmes.
