The institution and the installation of the new Headmaster of S.Thomas’ College Gurutalawa was held ceremoniously at the College premises on the 13th of January 2023. Mr. Laksiri S. Perera was appointed as the 16th Headmaster of the College. The occasion was graced by Rt. Revd Dushantha L. Rodrigo, Lord Bishop of Colombo as the Chief Guest. The presence of the Former Headmaster of the College Ven.Fr. S.P. Nesakumar. The Vicar General of Diocese of Kurunegala, The Archdeacon of Nuwara Eliya, The Warden of St.Thomas’ Mount Lavinia, the Headmaster of St. Thomas’ College Bandarawla and the clergy from various parishes added colour to the event. It was also enthusiastically partaken by the members of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee, teachers, parents as well as the members of the admin and support staff.
His Lordship addressed the gathering at the Foster Memorial Hall and emphasized upon the importance of the healthy relationship between teachers and students as well as of the importance of the teachers’ integrity and sound leadership. The newly appointed Headmaster made a solemn promise during his speech that he would constantly endeavor to execute the needful to elevate the College to the next level. The formalities at the Foster Memorial Hall reached a happy and successful ending with the delivering of the vote of thanks by the Secretary of the OBA Mr. Indika Senaratne The celebrations of the day reached a pleasant and memorable conclusion with everyone gathering at the College dining hall for a fellowship lunch.
