History
Consecrated on 17 July 1876
The Church of Ceylon experienced a rapid growth during the British period. Under the guidance of the Bishop of Colombo a meeting of the Dimbulla District was held in 1871 when it was decided to build new churches in Lindula and Kotagala. St. John’s Church Lindula was sited at a beautiful vicinity in the Nuwara-Eliya District.
The plans for the church was supplied by a London architect. The first clergyman to serve here was Rev. F.D.C. Rigby.
